What Does It Mean?

Kidney failure occurs when the kidneys lose their ability to filter waste, balance fluids, and regulate electrolytes efficiently. This dysfunction can be acute or chronic and is often a result of prolonged stress on the kidneys, metabolic imbalances, or systemic diseases such as diabetes or hypertension.

How Did We Get There?

Root Causes:

  • Chronic dehydration and inadequate fluid intake
  • High blood pressure leading to glomerular damage
  • Diabetes causing nephropathy
  • Chronic toxin exposure (heavy metals, medications, environmental pollutants)
  • Autoimmune conditions affecting kidney function
  • Poor dietary choices leading to oxidative stress and inflammation

Signs & Symptoms:

  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Swelling in legs, ankles, and feet (fluid retention)
  • Shortness of breath (due to fluid overload)
  • Decreased urine output
  • Brain fog, confusion, or difficulty concentrating
  • Muscle cramps and electrolyte imbalances
  • Nausea and vomiting

Diagnostic Criteria: Patients with kidney failure typically exhibit abnormal kidney function markers, electrolyte imbalances, and signs of metabolic dysfunction.

How Do We Treat It?

Addressing kidney failure requires a multi-faceted approach, including dietary modifications, fluid balance, detoxification, and renal support.

  • Dietary Modifications: Implement a low-protein, anti-inflammatory diet with limited sodium and phosphorus
  • Detoxification Strategies: Reduce toxin exposure from food, medications, and the environment
  • Electrolyte Balance: Monitor potassium, sodium, and magnesium levels to prevent imbalances
  • Stress Management: Engage in relaxation techniques to support adrenal and kidney function
