What Does It Mean?

Candidiasis is an overgrowth of Candida yeast, particularly Candida albicans, in the body. This fungal overgrowth disrupts gut microbiome balance, weakens immune function, and contributes to systemic inflammation, leading to a wide range of digestive, neurological, and systemic symptoms.

How Did We Get There?

Root Causes:

  • Dysbiosis (Microbial Imbalance) – Overuse of antibiotics, high sugar intake, and poor gut health disrupt the normal balance of gut flora, allowing Candida overgrowth.
  • Weakened Immune Function – Chronic stress, poor diet, and underlying infections impair immune defenses, promoting yeast proliferation.
  • Excessive Sugar & Carbohydrate Consumption – Candida thrives on sugar, and a high-sugar diet fuels its growth.
  • Chronic Inflammation & Toxin Overload – Heavy metals, environmental toxins, and food sensitivities contribute to immune suppression and gut permeability.
  • Hormonal Imbalance – High estrogen levels can promote Candida growth by disrupting immune function and gut flora.
  • Digestive Enzyme & Stomach Acid Deficiencies – Low stomach acid and insufficient digestive enzymes allow undigested food particles to ferment, promoting yeast overgrowth.

Signs & Symptoms:

  • Chronic fatigue and brain fog
  • Bloating, gas, and digestive discomfort
  • Sugar cravings and frequent hunger
  • White-coated tongue or oral thrush
  • Skin rashes, fungal infections (e.g., athlete’s foot, jock itch)
  • Joint pain and muscle aches
  • Frequent infections or recurrent sinus issues
  • Mood swings, anxiety, or depression

Lab Test Findings

(Note: Additional labs can be included for a more comprehensive assessment within this protocol)

Lab Test Name Expected Changes Optimal Range
Albumin Decreased 4.50-5.00 g/dL
Alkaline Phosphatase Decreased 45.00-100.00 IU/L
ALT (SGPT) Increased 10.00-26.00 IU/L
AST (SGOT) Increased 10.00-26.00 IU/L
Antinuclear Antibody (ANA) Screen Positive Negative
Total Bilirubin Increased 0.20-1.00 mg/dL
BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) Increased 12.00-20.00 mg/dL
Calcium Altered 8.90-9.50 mg/dL
Candida Antibodies (IgG, IgA, IgM) Increased Negative
Homocysteine Increased < 8.00 µmol/L

How Do We Treat It?

Additional Lifestyle Interventions:

  • Anti-Candida Diet: Eliminate sugar, refined carbohydrates, and alcohol while increasing fiber-rich vegetables and healthy fats.
  • Probiotic Support: Introduce high-quality probiotics (Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains) to restore microbial balance.
  • Liver & Detox Support: Increase water intake, consume cruciferous vegetables, and ensure proper liver detoxification.
  • Reduce Stress: Incorporate stress-reducing techniques like meditation, breathwork, and quality sleep to regulate the immune response.
  • Exercise & Movement: Regular physical activity improves circulation and immune function.
