What Does It Mean?

Chromium deficiency is a condition caused by inadequate levels of chromium, a trace mineral essential for glucose metabolism, insulin function, and lipid regulation. A deficiency in chromium can lead to blood sugar imbalances, insulin resistance, and metabolic dysfunction.

How Did We Get There?

Root Causes:

• Poor Dietary Intake – Diets low in whole foods, including vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, often lack sufficient chromium.

• Increased Chromium Excretion – High sugar consumption and chronic stress can lead to excessive urinary loss of chromium.

• Gut Malabsorption Issues – Chronic digestive disorders such as dysbiosis, leaky gut, or inflammatory bowel disease impair chromium absorption.

• Metabolic Disorders – Conditions such as insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes can exacerbate chromium depletion.

• Prolonged Use of Medications – Antacids, corticosteroids, and beta-blockers may reduce chromium levels over time.

Signs & Symptoms:

• Blood sugar imbalances (hypoglycemia or insulin resistance)

• Increased carbohydrate and sugar cravings

• Fatigue and energy fluctuations

• Weight gain or difficulty losing weight

• Mood swings, irritability, or anxiety

• High cholesterol and triglyceride levels

Lab Test Findings

Lab Test Name Expected Change Optimal Range
Chromium, Blood Decreased 0.60-1.20 mcg/L

How Do We Treat It?

Supplement Protocol

Supplement Function Dosage & Frequency
V-Pax Supplies key mitochondrial micronutrients to support metabolism 2 capsules with or without food, daily

Additional Lifestyle Interventions:

• Increase Chromium-Rich Foods: Consume more chromium-containing foods like broccoli, beef, eggs, and whole grains.

• Support Blood Sugar Balance: Reduce refined carbohydrates and include balanced meals with protein and fiber.

• Optimize Gut Health: Improve digestion and microbiome health to enhance chromium absorption.

• Exercise Regularly: Strength training and aerobic activity improve insulin sensitivity.

• Manage Stress: Implement mindfulness practices, meditation, and stress-reduction techniques.
